SaaS development cost in 2026: what an MVP and a market-ready product cost

Updated · our quoted ranges, at ₹95 = $1, ₹127 = £1 and ₹25.9 = AED 1 on 3 November 2026

Quick answer

A SaaS MVP costs ₹10–19 lakh ($10,500–20,000): one core workflow with tenancy, sign-in and real payments. A market-ready product costs ₹20–38 lakh ($21,000–40,000), with several roles, full billing with GST invoices, integrations and a platform console. These are our quoted ranges, set by SaaS products we build and run ourselves, such as Storafleet, and your fixed price comes out of a two-week Discovery Sprint.

How much does it cost to build a SaaS product?

A SaaS product is your feature plus five things every paying customer assumes: workspaces that keep tenants apart, roles, subscription billing with proper invoices, an operator console and the operations that keep it running. First-time SaaS budgets go on the feature; the range below includes the other five.

  1. MVP

    ₹10–19 lakh

    $10,500–20,000

One core workflow with tenancy, sign-in and real payments.

The MVP charges a real customer safely: the core workflow done well for one kind of customer, accounts, workspaces and roles, one plan in one currency with invoices, a marketing site with pricing, a basic operator console, an activity log and backups.

    AED 38,500–73,500
  2. Market-ready product

    ₹20–38 lakh

    $21,000–40,000

Several roles, full billing with GST invoices, integrations and a platform console.

The market-ready product is what Storafleet runs: several plans and limits, rupee and dollar prices set by a person, upgrades, downgrades and credit, a gapless GST invoice series, a revenue ledger in the console, integrations, and the security posture larger customers check for.

Our quoted ranges for builds of this size, not a client's fee. Dollars, pounds and dirhams are the rupee range at ₹95 = $1, ₹127 = £1 and ₹25.9 = AED 1 on 3 November 2026, rounded to the nearest 500: the price is the same wherever you are. Clients in India are quoted and invoiced in rupees and everyone else in US dollars, so the pound and dirham figures are for reference. Every app type is compared in the App Development Cost Index 2026, and the build itself is described on SaaS Development.

Where a SaaS budget actually goes

The feature is usually the biggest single cost and the easiest to narrow. Everything else below is the part of SaaS that shows up in the first year whether or not it was priced. Each line is tagged with where it usually lands.

Features

  • The core feature, narrowMVP

One focused workflow is the low end; several engines, editors or integrations are the high end. AskForth's form engine has 68 field types, which is why it is a product, not a feature.

  • Operator console depthFull platform

Workspaces and plans at launch; later a revenue ledger with MRR, ARR, 30-day revenue, open invoices and churn, as in Storafleet's console. Each screen saves your team hours and costs real work.

  • Marketing site and docsEither

A few pages and pricing at launch. Content-heavy sites are how many SaaS products are found: Storafleet publishes 52 provider connection guides and AskForth has a 48-page site.

  • Industry or vertical packsLater

AskForth carries 24 industry packs on one workspace model; each pack is its own set of screens and data.

Integrations

  • Subscription billingMVP

One plan and one currency at launch, on a model that can grow. Every billing rule after that needs code, tests and an answer for the failure cases.

  • Second currencyFull platform

Storafleet bills Indian customers in rupees and everyone else in dollars. A gateway plan's amount cannot be edited, so each plan carries a rupee and a dollar price set by a person, not a daily rate.

  • Customer clouds and third-party APIsFull platform

Each integration has its own auth, limits, failure modes and security review. Storafleet connects to 50+ storage providers from one codebase.

  • Customers bringing their own keysLater

LoudMouth's customers bring their own AI key, and every stored secret is encrypted with the workspace bound in.

Roles

  • Workspaces and rolesMVP

Tenancy is the foundation; retrofitting it is a rewrite. Storafleet's workspaces have owner, admin, editor and viewer roles and an append-only activity log.

  • One account, several workspacesFull platform

Agencies and consultants run several clients from one login, as AskForth allows. It touches billing, invites and every permission check.

  • Platform staffMVP

Your support team needs a console so nobody edits the database by hand, with its own roles and an audit trail.

  • Single sign-onLater

Larger customers ask for it; build it when the first one is ready to pay.

Compliance

  • GST invoices with a gapless seriesFull platform

Each paid invoice takes the next number in a series per financial year. Storafleet's payment audit caught the first invoice of each year being numbered 00000.

  • Recurring payments under RBI rulesMVP

Indian card and UPI subscriptions run on e-mandates with their own limits; see our RBI payment rules guide.

  • Keyless cloud access and encryptionFull platform

Storafleet connects to AWS through a role with an ExternalId per connection, and encrypts other credentials with AES-256-GCM under per-account keys.

  • Data law for your customers' usersMVP

The DPDP Act, UK GDPR or the UAE's PDPL decide deletion, retention and breach duties; the controls are built in, the certifications are business projects.

SaaS MVP vs a market-ready product

The MVP is a product a customer can pay for without a person in the loop. The market-ready product is one a sales team can sell to a company that asks hard questions.

What each tier includes, part by part. Ranges: MVP ₹10–19 lakh · Market-ready product ₹20–38 lakh.

Build the MVP to find out whether customers pay. Build the market-ready product when they do and the next customers are companies with procurement teams.

What a SaaS product costs to run

A SaaS product's bills grow with customers, not with launch. Hosting, the database, storage, email and the gateway's fee on each renewal are the usual lines; AI usage and outbound bandwidth are the ones that surprise.

  • Hosting and the databaseSized in discovery from the expected workspaces and data per workspaceMonthly
  • Gateway fee on each renewalRazorpay for Indian customers, an international gateway for othersPer payment
  • File storage and downloadsObject storage plus outbound bandwidth; the S3 calculator prices bothPer GB
  • Transactional emailSign-in links, invoices and notificationsPer message
  • AI calls, if the product uses themMetered per call; AskForth's AI form build averaged 8,588 tokens per form on its primary modelPer call
  • MaintenanceDependency and security updates, monitoring and hours for small featuresMonthly plan
  • Maintenance after launchCare ₹20,000 ($210) · Grow ₹45,000 ($470) · Partner ₹95,000 ($1,000), a monthfrom ₹20,000

Price your storage with the S3 storage cost calculator and your churn and payback with the churn rate calculator. Measured AI costs are on running costs. Maintenance plans are priced on app maintenance plans.

How long a SaaS build takes, measured

Our own SaaS builds give the range of elapsed time. AskForth, with a dashboard, API, form engine, embed widget, superadmin console and a 48-page marketing site, went from the start of build work to built in about 11 weeks. AlwaysLoud reached a working build in 4 weeks. Our plan for a typical client SaaS first version runs about fourteen weeks from discovery to launch checks: the first workspace on staging within about six, billing by about ten.

  1. Weeks 1–2

    Discovery Sprint

Who pays, for what and at what limits; the core workflow and onboarding drawn and tested; tenancy and billing rules written down.

  2. Milestone 1

    Tenancy and the core feature

Accounts, workspaces, roles and the core workflow, tested with two workspaces side by side.

  3. Milestone 2

    Billing, console and site

Subscriptions, invoices, the basic console and the marketing site with pricing.

  4. Milestone 3

    Launch readiness

Every route exercised, the payment path audited, production servers and monitoring, then the first customers watched closely.

Measured on our builds

  • AlwaysLoud4 weeksAI content-marketing SaaS · Sept 2026 to Oct 2026
  • AskForth11 weeksForm-builder SaaS · Jul 2026 to Sept 2026
  • LeafRanger12 weeksAI plant-care app and plant marketplace · Jun 2026 to Sept 2026

All three are our own products, measured from the start of build work; none was a client SaaS, so a client's discovery and feedback time comes on top. Every row, with its start and end points, is on build timelines.

How you pay for a SaaS build

A SaaS build is paid in the order it is built: tenancy first, money second, launch third. You hold a working staging address at the end of every milestone.

  1. Discovery Sprint: ₹1,50,000 ($1,600), 2 weeks

Scope, user flows, a clickable prototype, the architecture, a risk list and a fixed-price quote in milestones. Paid up front; the full fee is credited to the build if it starts within 60 days of the walkthrough.

  2. Scope, price and acceptance checks

The fixed price and the milestones, with checks that include tenant separation and every role's permissions.

  3. Milestone 1: two workspaces, one feature

Paid when the core workflow runs in two workspaces side by side on staging and neither can see the other.

  4. Milestone 2: billing and console

Paid when a test customer can subscribe, be invoiced, upgrade and cancel, and your team can see it in the console.

  5. Milestone 3: launch

Paid on go-live after the route probe and the payment-path audit, accepted on production.

Clients in India pay in rupees; everyone else pays in US dollars, at the same price. A change during the build is priced before it is built. How milestone payments work in full is on pricing, and when a fixed price suits you is in fixed price vs time and materials.

SaaS products behind the ranges

We build SaaS for clients and run our own, so the ranges are priced against products that bill real money or are built to.

  • Live

    Storafleet

Our own control plane for object storage across 50+ providers, live at storafleet.com, billing in rupees and dollars with GST invoices. Before launch sign-off, ten passes exercised 237 of its 253 API routes, and our own payment-path audit closed 33 of 35 findings by 16 July 2026.

    • 237 of 253 routes exercised
    • 52 provider connection guides
  • Built

    AskForth

Our own form SaaS with an AI builder, a form engine, CSP-safe embeds, a superadmin console and Razorpay billing with GST invoices, built from July to September 2026. Payments are tested in test mode and switched off until launch.

    • 479 of 479 backend tests
    • 24 industry packs
  • Built

    AlwaysLoud

Our own content-marketing product, from the start of build work to a working build in four weeks, with 701 server tests passing on 17 October 2026. Not launched.

    • 701 server tests
  • Live

    ConferBot

A no-code chatbot SaaS we built for its owners, sold as a free plan and three flat-priced paid tiers per workspace.

    • Paid plans from $19 a month

What a SaaS range does not buy

Not in the range

  • Hosting, email, storage and gateway fees, billed to your company's accounts.
  • Certifications such as SOC 2: we build the controls auditors check; the audit itself is a business project.
  • Content beyond the launch site: blog posts, documentation and search-led pages are priced by scope.
  • Migration importers from a competitor's product, worth building once you know which product customers leave.
  • Sales, onboarding and support staffing.

What we could not confirm

  • We publish no user or revenue numbers for Storafleet, AskForth or AlwaysLoud: it is too early for any that mean something.
  • AskForth and AlwaysLoud are built but not launched, so their billing has run in test mode only.
  • These are ranges for builds of this size, never a client's fee.

Before you ask for a SaaS quote

These decide whether you are in the MVP range or the market-ready one. The SaaS launch checklist covers the rest.

  1. The one job customers will pay for, and for which kind of customer first.
  2. Who pays: individuals, small teams or companies with procurement.
  3. How you charge: per seat, per workspace, by usage, or flat.
  4. India first, or rupees and dollars from day one.
  5. Which integrations the first customer cannot live without.
  6. What your support team must be able to do without a developer.
  7. Whether customers will ask for single sign-on or audits in year one.

SaaS development cost: frequent questions

How much does a SaaS MVP cost to build in India?

Our quoted range for a production SaaS MVP, one core workflow with tenancy, sign-in and real payments, is ₹10–19 lakh ($10,500–20,000). A market-ready product with several roles, full billing with GST invoices, integrations and a console is ₹20–38 lakh ($21,000–40,000). For a worked example, read what it actually costs to build a SaaS product.

Why does billing take so much of a SaaS budget?

Because every rule has failure cases: a renewal that fails, an upgrade mid-cycle, a refund after an invoice, a second currency. Our own audit of Storafleet's payment path logged 35 findings, and we closed 33 of them by 16 July 2026, before building the renewal engine on top.

Does a SaaS product cost more if it bills in rupees and dollars?

Some, yes. A second currency means its own prices set by a person, its own gateway behaviour and invoices that follow each country's rules. It is usually a market-ready feature rather than an MVP one.

Can a SaaS MVP be built without an operator console?

Not safely. Even the MVP needs a basic console for workspaces, plans and support actions, or your team ends up editing the database to help a customer. The full revenue ledger can wait.

Is it cheaper to build a SaaS on a no-code platform?

Cheaper to start, often dearer to grow, because tenancy, billing rules and integrations hit the platform's limits. Our no-code vs custom comparison shows where each one fits.

Do UK or US SaaS founders pay a different price?

No. Outside India you are quoted and invoiced in US dollars at ₹95 = $1, so the MVP range is $10,500–20,000; the pound figure beside it is for reference. See working with us from the UK.
