App Development Cost Index 2026 · Delivery app
How much does a delivery app cost to build in 2026?
Updated · our quoted ranges, at ₹95 = $1, ₹127 = £1 and ₹25.9 = AED 1 on 3 November 2026
Quick answer
A delivery app costs ₹6–12.5 lakh ($6,500–13,000) for an MVP with a customer app, a driver app and an operations console, and ₹12–25 lakh ($12,500–26,500) for a full platform that adds a business portal, driver plans and payouts, and monthly GST billing. These are our quoted ranges from building Pakka, an on-demand goods delivery platform in Bengaluru, and your fixed price comes out of a two-week Discovery Sprint.
What does a delivery app cost, MVP to full platform?
A delivery platform is three products on one backend: the app the sender uses, the app the driver carries all day, and the console your operations team watches. The range depends mostly on how much of the money and the business layer you need on day one, not on the screens.
MVP
₹6–12.5 lakh
$6,500–13,000
A customer app, a driver app and an admin console, with live trips and payments.
The MVP moves real parcels from day one: booking with an upfront fare, dispatch to the nearest drivers, live tracking with a limit on map calls, a pickup code and a drop code with a proof photo, payments, a driver wallet and a console to watch every trip. It suits a founder testing one city with consumers first.

Full platform
₹12–25 lakh
$12,500–26,500
Adds a business portal, driver plans and payouts, and monthly GST billing.
The full platform is what Pakka runs today: the MVP plus a business portal for companies that ship in volume, prepaid driver plans alongside commission, withdrawals through an approval queue, monthly GST invoices with a Tally import, and an API with signed webhooks for partners who integrate.

Our quoted ranges for builds of this size, not a client's fee. Dollars, pounds and dirhams are the rupee range at ₹95 = $1, ₹127 = £1 and ₹25.9 = AED 1 on 3 November 2026, rounded to the nearest 500: the price is the same wherever you are. Clients in India are quoted and invoiced in rupees and everyone else in US dollars, so the pound and dirham figures are for reference. Every app type is compared in the App Development Cost Index 2026, and the build itself is described on Logistics & Delivery App Development.
What moves a delivery app's budget up or down?
Every line below is a choice we have made on a real delivery build. The tag says where it usually lands: in the MVP, in the full platform, or later. Moving a line from "later" into the first release is the most common reason a quote goes up.
Features
Dispatch rulesMVP
Pakka offers a trip to the nearest eligible drivers in widening rings of 3, 7 and 15 km, rings their phone even when it is locked, moves lapsed offers to an open board, reminds the customer at 10 minutes and cancels at 20. A simpler first rule is cheaper; the edge cases are where the time goes.
Vehicle classesMVP
Pakka runs five, from couriers on foot to large trucks, and shows a class that cannot carry the parcel with the reason. Each class adds capacity rules and its own fares; one class at launch keeps the MVP at the low end.
Multi-drop and recurring jobsFull platform
Pakka's Bulk bookings take two to five drops on an optimised route. Routes with several stops multiply the trip states, the fare rules and the proof needed at each stop.
Handover codes and proof photosMVP
A code from the sender at pickup and from the receiver at drop, plus a photo at drop, settle most disputes from evidence. It is small to build and expensive to add after the first lost parcel.
Integrations
Maps: search, routes and the map itselfMVP
Address search, the route preview, map loads and the live route line are separate paid calls. How often the app fetches a route decides the maps bill more than any other line of code.
Payment gateway with refunds and tipsMVP
Checkout, refunds, tips and settle-up were exercised end to end against the gateway's test mode on Pakka before launch. Cash on delivery adds a second money path the ledger has to track.
SMS codes and push that ringsMVP
Handover codes go by SMS, and trip offers need high-priority push so a driver sees them on a locked phone.
Developer API and signed webhooksLater
Worth building when a partner is ready to integrate. Every webhook is signed so the partner can trust it.
Roles
Customer, driver and operationsMVP
Three audiences with three days that have nothing in common, which is why Pakka has separate customer and driver apps rather than one app with modes.
Business accounts with their own driversFull platform
A company shipping forty parcels a day needs bulk upload, a tracking board and its own drivers on the same app: a second product on the same backend.
Receivers without the appFull platform
A public tracking link that opens in any browser. Cheap once tracking works, and the receiver never installs anything.
Fleet owners managing many driversLater
Owner accounts with several vehicles and drivers are a product of their own, with their own payouts.
Compliance
Driver verification before the first tripMVP
Documents are collected and checked in onboarding, before a driver can go online. It is never a later feature.
Account deletion inside the appMVP
Both app stores require it. On Pakka it sits in the money-and-operations milestone, before the store submission.
GST invoices for business customersFull platform
Monthly tax invoices a company's accountant can file, generated correctly every month, with a Tally import to save them retyping.
Personal data under the DPDP ActMVP
Phone numbers, addresses and live locations are personal data. Consent, retention and deletion are planned in discovery; see our DPDP Act guide.
Delivery app MVP or full platform: what each one includes
Both tiers move parcels for paying customers. The difference is who ships with you and how drivers are paid. Most founders start at the MVP and add the business layer when the first companies ask for it.
| Part | MVP | Full platform |
|---|---|---|
| Customer app | Book, see the fare before pickup, pay, follow the driver live | The same, plus scheduled, multi-drop and last-mile bookings and a receiver tracking link |
| Driver app | Onboarding with documents, timed offers, navigation, codes, proof photo and a wallet | Adds prepaid plans with no per-trip commission, plans bought from the wallet, withdrawal requests |
| Dispatch | Nearest drivers first, one fallback and a clean cancel | Rings at 3, 7 and 15 km, an open board, reminders at 10 minutes and a cancel at 20 |
| Business customers | Book one parcel at a time, like consumers | A portal with CSV upload, multi-drop and recurring shipments, a tracking board and their own drivers |
| Billing | Receipts for each trip | Monthly GST invoices with a Tally import |
| Operations console | Live trips, drivers, pricing and payout approval | Pakka's console has 26 admin screens with an audit log, zones and disputes |
| Platforms | Android first, where most drivers are | Android and iPhone from the same React Native code |
| Partner API | None | API keys and signed webhooks |
If your first customers are consumers in one city, the MVP is the honest starting point. If your first customers are companies with daily volume, price the business portal into the first release, because they will not book forty parcels one at a time.
What does a delivery app cost to run after launch?
The build is paid once; the third-party bills arrive with every trip. Our cost study traced one Pakka booking through the code after the tracking fix, at the providers' public rates. A cash-paid consumer trip costs ₹7.86 in third-party services, and a business trip ₹3.07, because nobody types an address and the portal draws no map.
- Address search for pickup and dropTwo search sessions on the customer's phone₹2.90
- Map loadsFour map loads on one trip, at ₹0.60 each₹2.40
- Route preview before bookingOne route call, cached on the server₹0.43
- Live-tracking route, driver and customerOne route call per leg on each phone after the fix₹1.72
- Pickup and delivery SMS codesTwo text messages per trip₹0.40
- Proof-of-delivery photo storageOne photo in object storage₹0.01
- Driver matchingA geo query in our own database, no maps call₹0.00
- One cash-paid consumer trip₹7.86
- Maintenance after launchCare ₹20,000 ($210) · Grow ₹45,000 ($470) · Partner ₹95,000 ($1,000), a monthfrom ₹20,000
Before the fix, the driver's trip screen re-requested the route every ten seconds: ~₹77 (30-minute trip, about 180 calls) against ₹0.86 (1 call per leg, 2 legs) after it. An online payment adds the gateway's fee, which the Razorpay fee calculator works out, and servers, store accounts and maintenance come on top. Every row is on our running costs page with its source, and the Google Maps API cost calculator prices your own volumes. Maintenance plans are priced on app maintenance plans.
How long does a delivery app take to build?
Pakka's web platform went live 15 weeks after build work started, with the Android apps already on signed test builds. The release builds were cut after a pre-Play QA pass at 21 weeks, and both Android apps are now live on Google Play. A smaller MVP with one vehicle class and no business portal takes less.

Pakka is the delivery row; the other two are React Native apps with their own backends, for comparison. Each row states where it starts and ends. Every row, with its start and end points, is on build timelines.
How do you pay for a delivery app build?
You never pay for time passing. You pay a fixed fee for the Discovery Sprint, then a fixed price for the build in milestones, and each milestone is something you install on your own phone and accept against checks agreed in advance.
Discovery Sprint: ₹1,50,000 ($1,600), 2 weeks
Scope, user flows, a clickable prototype, the architecture, a risk list and a fixed-price quote in milestones. Paid up front; the full fee is credited to the build if it starts within 60 days of the walkthrough.
Fixed price in the contract
The build price, the three milestones, what each contains and the payment for each are written down before work starts.
Milestone 1: test trips
Paid when you have run test trips between the customer and driver apps on real phones and accepted them in the console.
Milestone 2: money and operations
Paid when payments, the driver wallet and payout approval pass their checks with test money, in a pilot with your own drivers.
Milestone 3: launch
Production servers, store release and go-live are a milestone of their own, accepted on the live system.
Clients in India pay in rupees; everyone else pays in US dollars, at the same price. A change during the build is priced before it is built. How milestone payments work in full is on pricing, and when a fixed price suits you is in fixed price vs time and materials.
The delivery platform these numbers come from
The delivery range is built on one shipped platform and two builds that share its hardest part: finding someone nearby and making them accept.
Live
Pakka Logistics
Customer and driver apps, two backends, the Pakka for Business portal, the operations console and the website, all built by us. Both Android apps are live on Google Play and the two iPhone apps are in App Store review.
- 151 → 1 route calls on a 25-minute delivery
- 260 of 270 API routes probed before launch
- 28 defects found and fixed in the pre-Play QA pass
Built
EverybodysPet
Our own animal-welfare platform. Its case engine offers a rescue to nearby NGOs, clinics, ambulances and volunteers in rounds and widens the search when nobody accepts: the same dispatch problem as a delivery, for animals.
- 223 page routes in the web app
- 184 test suites in the latest regression
Discovery
Customs broker ERP
Discovery work for a logistics back office: six regulatory milestone flows and a 22-entity phase-1 data model, mapped before any quote. Back-office software like this is priced as business software, not with the delivery range.
- 6 regulatory flows mapped
- 22-entity phase-1 data model
What a delivery app range leaves out
Not in the range
- Third-party bills: maps, SMS, the payment gateway's fee on each online payment, servers and storage. They are billed to your accounts, in your company's name.
- Google Play and Apple developer accounts, opened in your company's name.
- A marketing website. Pakka's public site was a separate piece of work that started after the platform went live.
- Warehouse, customs or back-office software. That is custom business software, scoped on its own.
- Monthly maintenance after launch, which is a plan of its own (see the running costs above).
What we could not confirm
- The per-trip figures are traced through the code at the providers' public rates (28 August 2026), not read off an invoice; the cost study itself marks them to be checked against a real bill.
- We publish no Pakka order volumes or revenue. The platform's figures on this page come from our trackers, probes and cost study, not from production traffic.
- These are ranges for builds of this size. They are not what Pakka paid, which stays private.
What to decide before you ask for a delivery app quote
A quote is only as good as the brief behind it. These answers move a delivery quote the most; the project brief generator turns them into one page.
- What moves, and on what: documents on foot, parcels on two-wheelers, furniture on trucks?
- Which city first, and how many drivers you can sign up before launch.
- Consumers, businesses, or both, and which of them pays first.
- How drivers earn: commission per trip, a prepaid plan, a salary, or more than one.
- Cash on delivery, online payment, or both.
- Whether customers expect to watch the driver move, or a status and an arrival time is enough.
- Whether businesses need monthly GST invoices from the first month.
Delivery app cost: questions founders ask
How much does it cost to build a delivery app like Pakka?
Our quoted range for a full platform like Pakka, with customer and driver apps, a business portal, driver plans and payouts and monthly GST billing, is ₹12–25 lakh ($12,500–26,500). An MVP with the two apps and an operations console is ₹6–12.5 lakh ($6,500–13,000). The fixed price for your version comes out of a Discovery Sprint.
Can a delivery app MVP launch with only one vehicle type?
Yes, and it is one of the cleanest ways to keep the first release near the bottom of the range. Each vehicle class brings its own capacity rules, fares and reasons it cannot take a parcel; Pakka runs five, from couriers on foot to large trucks, but the data model can start with one and grow.
Is the driver app included in the delivery app price?
Yes. Both tiers include the customer app, the driver app and the operations console, because a delivery cannot run without all three. The full tier adds the business portal, driver plans and withdrawals, and monthly GST invoicing.
Why does live tracking change a delivery app's budget?
Because it is engineering work for three audiences and the biggest lever on the maps bill. Pakka streams the driver's position over a socket, which costs nothing per update, and fetches the paid route line once per leg, refetching only when the driver strays more than 150 metres.
What does one delivery cost in third-party fees once the app is live?
On Pakka, ₹7.86 for a cash-paid consumer trip and ₹3.07 for a business trip, from our cost study at the providers' public rates. Maps is most of it. An online payment adds the gateway fee. The full breakdown is on running costs.
Does a business portal make a delivery platform much more expensive?
It is the main step from the MVP range to the full-platform range. Bulk CSV upload, multi-drop and recurring shipments, a tracking board, company drivers, GST invoices and an API are a second product on the same backend, which is why we usually add it once the first businesses ask.
Are these delivery app ranges the same for a startup in Dubai or London?
Yes. The rupee range is the price wherever you are. A UAE or UK client is quoted and invoiced in US dollars at ₹95 = $1, so the MVP is $6,500–13,000; the dirham and pound figures beside it are for reference. See working with us from the UAE.
