Logistics and delivery app development: customer, driver and business apps

We build delivery and logistics platforms end to end. Pakka, which we built for Pakka Logistics in India, is a Porter-style network: a customer app to book bikes through trucks, a driver app with trip requests and a wallet, live tracking, a business portal for bulk and multi-stop shipments with GST invoicing, a developer API, and an 18-panel operations console.

  • On-demand and scheduled delivery businesses
  • Fleet owners who need driver apps, tracking and payouts
  • Shippers that need a business portal, bulk bookings and invoicing

What makes logistics apps hard, and how we handled it

Live tracking without a runaway Maps bill

A tracking bug in Pakka's driver app re-requested the route every ten seconds, about 151 Google Maps calls on a 25-minute delivery. We changed it to one route request per leg, refetching only when the driver strays more than 150 metres.

Drivers who are paid fairly and on time

Drivers on Pakka sign up in four steps, upload documents for verification, buy a prepaid plan, settle up after trips and withdraw to their bank through RazorpayX.

Business shipping, not only one-off parcels

Pakka's business portal handles bulk and scheduled multi-stop shipments, own-fleet drivers with location trails, KYC, monthly GST invoices with a Tally import, and API keys with webhooks for developers.

Tested like it's already in production

Before launch, a probe operated 260 of Pakka's 270 routes (96.3%), and every APK went into a release ledger with checksums.

Pakka Logistics — Porter-Style Delivery Platform

Pakka Logistics is a Porter-style delivery platform for India. We built all of it: Android apps for customers and drivers, a business portal, an operations console and the website. The web platform is live; the Android apps are being prepared for Google Play.

Logistics & Delivery App Development: questions we get asked

Can you build an app like Porter?

Yes. Pakka is a Porter-style platform we built: customers book anything from a two-wheeler to a truck, drivers accept trips in their own app, businesses ship in bulk through a portal, and operations run from one console.

How do you keep Google Maps costs under control in a delivery app?

By measuring per trip. On Pakka a tracking bug was making about 151 route requests on a 25-minute delivery; we cut it to one request per leg, with a refetch only when the driver strays more than 150 metres from the route.

Can customers track a delivery without installing the app?

Yes. Pakka sends the receiver a public tracking link that opens in any browser, while the customer and the business portal track the same trip live.
