  • Razorpay's pricing FAQ says standard UPI payments carry zero MDR (merchant discount rate), but a 2% platform fee applies.
  • The fee and the GST are each rounded to the paisa here; Razorpay's own rounding may differ by a paisa.

How is Razorpay's fee calculated?

Razorpay's standard plan charges a platform fee as a percentage of each payment: 2% for UPI, Indian debit and credit cards, netbanking, wallets and cardless EMI; 3% for card EMI; and 2.15% for credit cards on UPI. Its pricing page also lists custom pricing for businesses collecting more than ₹5 lakh a month.

GST at 18% is charged on that fee, not on the payment, and both are deducted at source before the rest is settled to your bank. On ₹1,000 paid by UPI, the fee is ₹20.00 and the GST ₹3.60, so ₹976.40 is settled: an effective 2.36%.

International payments cost 3% for international cards; 3.5% for American Express; and 1% for international bank transfers, plus GST on the fee. Razorpay adds FX charges that depend on market rates and partner commissions, and lists +1% for chargeback protection next to the card rate; this calculator leaves out FX charges and shows chargeback protection as an option.

To receive a set sum, divide it by 1 − rate × 1.18 and round up to the paisa. Because the fee and the GST are each rounded to the paisa, the calculator checks that amount forward and gives the smallest one that settles at least your target.

Sending money out is priced separately. RazorpayX charges ₹4 for a payout below ₹1,000, ₹6 from ₹1,000 to ₹25,000 and ₹9 above ₹25,000 by IMPS or UPI, and ₹5 for any NEFT or RTGS transfer, plus GST on the fee.

fee = payment × rate
GST = fee × 18%
settled = payment − fee − GST
amount to charge = target ÷ (1 − rate × 1.18), rounded up to the paisa
