App Store and Google Play fee calculator

Apple keeps 30% of each sale, or 15% in its Small Business Program and on subscriptions after a subscriber's first year. Google Play keeps 15% on subscriptions and on an enrolled developer's first $1M a year in India, the UAE and most markets; in the US, UK, EEA, Australia and Japan a new schedule splits that into a lower service fee plus a 5% billing fee. Enter a price, volume and store to see the commission and what you keep.

Remaining markets: 15% on the first $1M is for developers enrolled in Google's 15% service fee tier; subscriptions are 15% either way. US, UK, EEA, Australia and Japan: 10% + the billing fee. Untick for sales after you pass $1M.

  • Google gives 15% on the first $1M to developers enrolled in its 15% service fee tier and 30% above $1M. Its page doesn't state a rate for developers who haven't enrolled.
  • The $1M limits count all your sales that year, not just this product, and the 12-month figure assumes sales start on 1 January at this volume.
  • Apple calculates its commission on the price net of the taxes it collects (license agreement, Schedule 2 section 3.4(a)), so enter your price before VAT, GST or sales tax.
  • For Google Play, this calculator applies the rate to the price you enter; check how taxes are handled in your Play Console.
  • Not modelled: Apple's separate rates for EU, Japan, Brazil and China mainland storefronts, Google's alternative billing in India and South Korea (its fee reduced by 4%), and Google's other programs such as Play Media Experience.
  • Rates checked 20 Oct 2026 from Apple's and Google's developer pages; check the pages before you rely on them.

How are App Store and Google Play fees calculated?

Apple's commission is a share of the price: 30% by default, 15% for members of the App Store Small Business Program, and 15% on auto-renewing subscription renewals once a subscriber has more than a year of paid service in the subscription group. Apple's license agreement says the commission is worked out on prices net of the taxes Apple collects.

In India, the UAE and Google's other remaining markets, Google Play takes 15% on auto-renewing subscriptions. On other sales, developers enrolled in the 15% service fee tier pay 15% on the first $1M (USD) they earn each year and 30% above it.

Google Play's new schedule took effect on 30 June 2026 for buyers in the EEA, UK and US, and on 30 September 2026 for buyers in Australia and Japan. The service fee is 10% on the first $1M of annual earnings. Above that it is 10% on subscriptions, 20% on other sales to new installs and 25% to existing installs. A 5% billing fee is added when the purchase uses Google Play Billing or is the first purchase of a paid app, so the first $1M still costs 15% in total.

Both stores' $1M limits count all your sales in a year. Apple's Small Business Program counts proceeds, which are sales net of Apple's commission and certain taxes, in the previous and the current calendar year; once you pass $1M, the standard rate applies to later sales. The 12-month figure assumes sales start on 1 January at the volume you enter.

commission per sale = price × rate
you keep = price − commission
Google, new schedule: rate = service fee + billing fee (Google Play Billing)
12 months with a $1M limit = monthly sales × (reduced rate × months to $1M + full rate × months left)
RevenueCat = 1% × all tracked revenue, in a month with $2,500 or more

Frequently asked questions

Does Apple take 30% or 15% of app sales?
30% by default. Apple takes 15% from members of its Small Business Program, which is for developers with up to $1M in proceeds a year, and 15% on subscription renewals once a subscriber has more than a year of paid service.
What is Google Play's commission in India?
15% on auto-renewing subscriptions. On other sales, developers enrolled in the 15% service fee tier pay 15% on the first $1M (USD) they earn each year and 30% above it. India is in Google's remaining markets, so the 2026 schedule for the US, UK, EEA, Australia and Japan doesn't apply there yet.
What is Google Play's 5% billing fee?
It is a 5% fee that Google adds on top of its service fee, from 30 June 2026 for buyers in the EEA, UK and US and from 30 September 2026 in Australia and Japan. It applies when a purchase uses Google Play Billing or is the first purchase of a paid app, so the first $1M a year costs 10% + 5% = 15%.
Is Apple's commission calculated on the price including VAT?
No. Apple's license agreement says that, for working out its commission, the prices customers pay are net of the taxes Apple collects (Schedule 2, section 3.4(a)). Enter your price before VAT, GST or sales tax.
How much does RevenueCat charge?
Nothing in a month with less than $2,500 of tracked revenue. Once a month reaches $2,500, RevenueCat charges 1% of all of that month's tracked revenue, so $2,500 costs $25. Tracked revenue is counted before the store's cut.
