App Store and Google Play screenshot sizes

Apple and Google both set accepted pixel sizes, aspect ratios and counts for store screenshots, and a submission needs screenshots at the sizes they require. Pick the store and device to see what is accepted, with the source for each rule, and check your own screenshot's dimensions.

What screenshot sizes do the App Store and Google Play accept?

Apple accepts only the exact pixel sizes it lists for each display, in portrait or landscape. To submit an iPhone app you need at least one screenshot for iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display), at 1179 × 2556 or 1206 × 2622 px portrait; if the app runs on iPad, you also need one for the 13" iPad display, at 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 px. Each display size takes 1 to 10 screenshots as .jpeg, .jpg or .png, with no alpha channel or transparency.

If your app looks the same across sizes, Apple says you only need screenshots for the highest required resolution: App Store Connect scales them down for smaller devices. Displays you leave out use scaled screenshots from the next display in Apple's list.

Google Play sets limits rather than exact sizes. Every screenshot must be a JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha, with each side at least 320 px and at most 3840 px, and the longer side no more than twice the shorter. You can add up to 8 per device type and need at least two to publish. Chromebooks and tablets take at least 4, from 1080 to 7680 px at 16:9 or 9:16; Wear OS screenshots are 1:1 from 384 × 384 px; Android XR takes 4 to 8 at 8:5, up to 8 MB each.

The checker compares your width and height, and the file format, with the rules for the device you pick. These come from the stores' own pages, checked on 20 Oct 2026; the stores add devices and change sizes, so check the store's page before you upload.

Apple: width × height must be on the display's list (portrait or landscape)
Google: 320 px ≤ shorter side, longer side ≤ 3840 px, longer side ≤ 2 × shorter side
Google large screens: 1080 to 7680 px, 16:9 or 9:16

Frequently asked questions

Which screenshot sizes does Apple require for a new iPhone app?
At least one screenshot for iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display): 1179 × 2556 or 1206 × 2622 px in portrait, or the same sizes turned to landscape. If the app also runs on iPad, add at least one for the 13" iPad display: 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 px.
How many screenshots can I upload to the App Store and Google Play?
Apple takes at least one and up to 10 per display size. Google Play takes up to 8 per device type and needs at least two to publish the listing; Chromebooks and tablets take at least 4, and Android XR between 4 and 8.
Is 1320 × 2868 still an accepted App Store screenshot size?
Yes. Apple lists 1320 × 2868 px portrait and 2868 × 1320 px landscape for iPhone with Dynamic Island (large display), alongside 1290 × 2796 and 1260 × 2736. That display is optional: the required iPhone size is the Dynamic Island (medium display), at 1179 × 2556 or 1206 × 2622.
Why won't App Store Connect take my screenshot?
Check the two rules on Apple's specification page: the size must be one Apple lists for that display, in portrait or landscape, and the image can't include an alpha channel or transparency. Export a flattened .jpeg, .jpg or .png at one of the listed sizes.
What are Google Play's screenshot dimension limits?
Each side must be at least 320 px and at most 3840 px, and the longer side can't be more than twice the shorter, so 1080 × 2160 fits and 1080 × 2400 does not. Screenshots must be JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha.
