App icon sizes for iOS and Android
The App Store and Google Play each ask for one large store icon, and the apps themselves need launcher icons, with Android using adaptive icons made of two layers. Pick a platform to see the sizes each store and system asks for, with the source for each, and check your own image's dimensions.

Fits Apple only
Apple needs 1024 × 1024 px and Google Play 512 × 512 px, so export one of each. Google Play: scale down to 50% (512 × 512 px).

- Android adaptive icon layers
- 108 × 108 dp each: 108 px (mdpi), 162 px (hdpi), 216 px (xhdpi), 324 px (xxhdpi), 432 px (xxxhdpi)px = dp × dpi ÷ 160. Foreground and background layers, plus a monochrome layer for themed icons.
- Adaptive icon safe zone
- the centre 66 × 66 dpNever clipped by a launcher's mask; the outer 18 dp on each side is reserved for masking and effects.
- Big enough for every adaptive layer density
- yes: 1024 px covers the largest, 432 px (xxxhdpi)Applies if this image is the whole 108 dp layer, with the logo inside the safe zone.
- Apple's App Store icon comes from your app's build: add it to the asset catalog in Xcode or make it in Icon Composer, then upload the build. Changing it after release needs a new app version.
- Give Apple a square, unmasked image: the system masks the edges into its rounded shape. Apple's guidelines prefer PNG for raster artwork and accept sRGB, Gray Gamma 2.2 and Display P3 colour.
- Upload Google Play's icon as a full square with no rounded corners or shadow: Google Play applies a corner radius of 30% of the icon size and adds the shadow itself. Use sRGB colour, and a solid background, since transparent areas show Google Play's background colour.
- Add the file size to check it against Google Play's 1024 KB limit.

What size should an app icon be?
For Apple, design the app icon at 1024 × 1024 px: that is the layout size in Apple's guidelines for iOS, iPadOS and macOS, and visionOS uses the same. Apple Watch icons are 1088 × 1088 px and Apple TV icons 800 × 480 px. Apple's Xcode documentation says iOS, iPadOS and watchOS apps can generate every other icon size from a single 1024 × 1024 image, while macOS needs an asset for each size. The App Store icon is not uploaded separately: it comes from the app icon in your build.
For Google Play, upload a 512 × 512 px 32-bit PNG of up to 1024 KB in sRGB, as a full square. Google Play rounds the corners, with a radius of 30% of the icon size, and adds a shadow, so leave both out. The store listing also needs a 1024 × 500 px feature graphic, as a JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha channel.
On the device, Android uses adaptive icons: a foreground and a background layer, each 108 × 108 dp, and a monochrome layer if you support themed icons, which Android 13 (API level 33) introduced. The launcher masks them into its own shape. Only the centre 66 × 66 dp is never clipped, so keep the logo inside it: at least 48 × 48 dp and no more than 66 × 66 dp. In pixels, 108 dp is 108 px at mdpi and 432 px at xxxhdpi (px = dp × dpi ÷ 160).
The checker compares your image with the store icon sizes, Google Play's format and its file-size limit. These sizes come from the stores' own pages, checked on 20 Oct 2026; the stores change them, so check the store's page before you upload.
