Human in the loop
Building AI features so a person reviews, approves or takes over at the points where a mistake would matter.
Updated October 2026 · with examples from our own builds
What does human in the loop mean in practice?
A human-in-the-loop design lets the AI do the bulk of the work and puts a person at the decision points: approving a storyboard before it renders, pressing Send on a newsletter, confirming a contact the AI was unsure of, taking over a chat that has gone wrong.
Early on, this is how AI features earn trust. It caps the cost of mistakes while the system is new, and the decisions people make become the evidence for where the AI can later be trusted alone.
Choosing the points is the design work. Too many approvals and the feature saves nobody time; too few and an error reaches customers before anyone sees it.

Where has human in the loop come up in our builds?
A person approves each storyboard before anything renders, the monthly newsletter's real send waits for someone to press Send, and any sentence the support gate can't match to evidence holds the post for a person.
Each autoblog draft gets overall, SEO, readability and value scores and waits for approval before it publishes to WordPress or the hosted blog.
Chats from every channel land in one shared inbox, where a person can take over from the bot with the full transcript and any lead details it collected.
Common questions about human in the loop
Which AI actions should always need a person's approval?
Anything that publishes under your name, sends to customers, spends money or deletes data, at least until the records show the AI gets those right.
Won't human review slow everything down?
Only if it is placed badly. Let the AI prepare everything and put the person at one decision point, such as Approve or Send, so review is a short check rather than a rewrite.
