Frequently asked questions
When should I convert PNG to WebP?
If your PNG is a photograph, WebP at quality 80 is typically 5-10× smaller with no visible loss. Keep PNG for logos, icons, and screenshots with sharp edges.
Why use AVIF over WebP?
AVIF compresses ~20-30% smaller than WebP at matched quality but encodes slower and isn't supported by some legacy browsers (notably Safari < 16).
Will conversion preserve transparency?
PNG, WebP, and AVIF preserve the alpha channel. JPEG does not — transparent pixels become white in JPEG output.
Are images uploaded?
Yes, briefly — they're processed in memory on our server and discarded immediately after the converted image is returned. Nothing is stored.
Is there a file-size limit?

Does this work on RAW or HEIC files?
