Frequently asked questions

Will compression hurt image quality?
Quality 75-85 is visually indistinguishable in most cases. Drop to 60-70 for thumbnails or anywhere file size matters more than fidelity.
What's the difference between WebP and AVIF?
AVIF compresses ~20-30% smaller than WebP at the same visual quality, but takes longer to encode and isn't supported by older browsers.
Should I keep PNG or convert to WebP?
If your PNG has flat colors and transparency, keep it. If it's a photo, WebP or JPEG will be 5-10× smaller at the same visual quality.
What does max-width do?
Resize the image so its long edge is at most that many pixels. Useful for shrinking phone photos before upload.
Are images uploaded to your servers?
Yes, briefly — we process them in memory and discard them right after returning the compressed file. Nothing is stored.
How big can the input be?
Free: 5 MB. Pro: 15 MB. Pro+: 25 MB. Output is downloaded directly to your device.
